Your team's missing person
Look around the conference room at your next team meeting. Your developer's there, and so is the business analyst, QA lead, DBA, scrum master and the agile coach. Who's missing? How about the customer? All too often, the customer is an after-thought on project teams. At a lean-agile training class of around 80 IT people, I asked for a show of hands for those attendees who knew who their customers. Approximately 10 people raised their hands. Is it any wonder that lack of business engagement or sponsorship is among the top reasons for project failure? Is it surprising that the business rejects so many brilliant IT solutions? One of the principles behind the Agile Manifesto (https://agilemanifesto.org/principles.html) is "Business people and developers must work together daily throughout the project." Let's begin to take this principle seriously.
